Mickey, Magic Kingdom and Miracles
Welcome to Orlando, Florida. Home to Mickey Mouse, Disney World and the never ending land of dreams. Most families come here during spring break to spend a little time in the sun, just to have fun. I came here for the week to celebrate life and miracles. And what a week it’s been so far.
I’ve had the distinct pleasure and honor to spend my week with 64 of the most courageous children you’ll ever meet. They are the 2007 Children’s Miracle Network Champions representing the Unite States and Canada. Each has survived insurmountable odds to be here. Some have won their health fight, many are in the midst of their battles and a precious few I’m afraid will not be with us this time next year. They won’t be strong enough to continue the fight, their little fragile bodies too weak to endure one day more.
The good new is, there are miracles happening here. One represents Mississippi, out Champion, Aubree Jordan from Madison. She is truly a walking miracle. It’s hard to believe this beautiful blue eyed princess was in so much pain less than a year and a half ago, she couldn’t walk and was confined to a wheelchair. Today, she’s running through theme parks, swimming in pools and doing what little girls do best…make their dads proud.
I wish you were here. What a great way to spend a week, one that would change your life.
