How in the world can anybody say that they investigate cases when DHS calls you to say “ This is DHS we are coming by tonight to talk to the care givers of the child” What!!!!!!!!! How is there an investigation when you know they are coming - you can clean house, bath the kids, have a 5 course meal made, drugs hidden, fellons gone, flea bitten pets, and teeth brushed. The word investigation means surprise we are here! Surprise we aere at your work. Surprise we need your vet number. Suprise we’re at the daycare. DHS has no idea how to investigate anything. All they know is there lunch hour don’t call me during then. |

DHS says people need to report abuse so that DHS can “investigate” it. Ha. What space ship did they jump out of? Hello! DHS was sued and settled in Jan 2008 by Childrensrights.org. Did they not learn anything? It does not take more tax-payers money to have common sense and PROTECT OUR CHILDREN!! |

With the increase in the unemployed there always has been a increase in all types of crimes including child abuse although that is not making an excuse. The shortage of DHS investigators can be directly connected with the Gov. cutting DHS funding when he took office…We can do better Mississippi. |

The system down here is just screwed up.The workers for DHS are just getting a pay check just to show they face. When they do go out on call they tell the parent who called in on them.At the sametime i think the parents are there to blame. |

I am fortunate to work both a private school and also in the public school system. I see many diverse children ages 1-13. As a christian teacher and child care professional it is my opion that there are many so called adults (parents) that could use a lot of disicipline or as in todays polically correct society abuse. There many children out there suffering that can’t help themselves that is where DHS should come into the picture. On one hand they are quick to jump to conclusions but on the other hand there are chilren mamed or killed eac day at the hand of someopne they love or trust. Like in everything else today, the offender has there “rights” but what about thier innocent victims rights??? I was taught when you tread on or cause harm to another human being, your right end! One of the main problems with the DHS is they are untrained people working the field.Come on we all know that most of the workers in this capacity and others such as that inspect our daycares have no experience or even no education for that matter, they have just landed thier job because the color of thire skin. Come on lets get past that and get serious |

Yes it’s a sad when children are losing their lives and living in such deplorable conditions. Who holds blame? Is it the parents or the system which so many of you have commented on. I am a foster parent and have been for two years. Its sad when I am called to take in child who has been taken away from the only family he/she knows. The workers for DHS are doing their best. Hey! we live in MS it’s not a lot of money so don’t think thats what keeping them there. We all are accountable for these children safety. I welcome visits to my home. I have nothing to hide. Its so easy to say what others should do or have not done. Have you asked yourself what can I do so it want happen again. Here’s an idea,go down to your local DHS sign up and go through the training to become a foster parent so next time a DHS workers need a safe place to place a child she can bring him/her to your doorstep. |

Responding from Rick (Warren County), the question was about DHS and child abuse. How you got on a rant about JSU is odd, but if JSU is selling degrees you should consider buying one. THEN, maybe YOU can write an error-free letter. Can you say spell check and grammar check? Silly rabbit! |

The first thing that DHS could do is their job. If they would do their job and stop riding the clock those kids probably would be alive today. I fell as though over the years DHS has changed because they have so many young workers who don’t care about the job just the money. Some of them if not all need to step up to the plate and do their job. |
