Should News Channel 12 broadcast the most recent pictures and video of the Virginia Tech shooter displaying his guns and his reasoning for the shooting? What do you think?

I APPLAUD CHANNEL 12 FOR MAKING THE DECISION NOT TO AIR THESE PICTURES AND VIDEOS. IT WAS A BOLD DECISION TO MAKE, BUT IT SHOWS RESPECT FOR THE FAMILIES OF VIRGINIA TECH AND IN MY BOOK, THAT GOES A LONG WAY! |

I believe your decision not to show his “made for TV video” in one way defeats his evil intent. Also, when these people get so much attention on TV, it encourages others with similar problems to seek the same recognition. |

Not showing any of the killers video and photos is the most appropriate action. Please don’t provide a stage for the ramblings of a cold blooded murderer. |

A bond move. Forego ratings in the interest of compassion and respect for the victims and their loved ones, as well as refusing to glamorize Cho via a platform for his despicable actions. To do otherwise simply encourages, excites, and probably emboldens like-minded social derelicts. Shame on NBC for honoring Cho by fulfilling his objective to celebrate himself and his actions. Cho obviously chose right by mailing it to the NBCNEWS organization. WJTV’s decision is a rare showing of integrity by the media at a time when contemporary media lusts for ratings at the expense of honor, good will, and the right thing to do. |

It was such a relief to realize that there is at least one station that is not giving this person what they wanted. There is, I’m sure, much to be learned from his rantings. This does not pertain to the general public. I really wish you could take his picture off your site. It just eminates evil. |

I think that you should stop showing pictures of him all together. This only gives him more power and shows future criminals that it pays to commit a crime. What you should be doing is showing pictures of the victims and what they where doing with their lives, which were cut oh so short. |

I would like to commend you for not airing the video. While certain information is valuable, giving a platform to someone with deep emotional problems only encourages others to seek their fifteen minutes of fame in like manner. I believe NBC and other media outlets have placed ratings and dollars above public safety. Your station has practiced simple common sense and my wish would be that others would follow your lead. |

I am proud of WJTV for not showing the pictures of the demented shooter. All he wanted was publicity and to blame others (poor me) for his actions. Good for you for not giving him a platform to do so. Shame on the Clarion Ledger for putting his picture on the front page. |

Iam glad your station is not showing it, but all the rest is. Media needs to keep somethings off the air because it gives the wrong people ideas. What has me worried is if this student was stalking and had teachers scared why was he still allowed to sttend school. We send or children to school to learn and if there is one bad apple in the bunch remove that apple so everyone else will have a safer and quiter learning experience. Va Tech needs to be held accountable for not removing this student and getting him proper help. |
