What do you think is the best way to handle convicted sex offenders?

I am 16 years old. I was raped when I was 12. I forgave the man that raped me. I did not know him. I do hope that he doesn’t do that to anyone else. I believe that God should be the One to decide when someone should or should not die. I strongly disagree with anyone that thinks the death penalty is the proper punishment in any case. I do think that rapist should be put in jail. Anyone who looks at a child and has sexual thoughts needs to seek help immediately. There are people who specialize in helping those people.

I speak from a victims point of view.. I don’t think counseling will help them unless they want to be helped and if they want help they will seek it.  The guy that attacked me has not been kept up to date on the so called “List”. It doesn’t work the right way. The offenders that really need to be kept up with are lost and the kids that are having to be on the list for having sex with their underage girlfriends are not listed as having slept with girlfriend, but as sex offenders. It needs to state the actual charge. 23 years ago I experienced the most horrible morning of my life. I did not ask for what happened to me to happen, nor did I let it define who I was to become.

I think that convicted sex offenders should have counseling provided by the state as long as they are behind bars while the counseling is going on. I dont think that state should provide these services while the convicted offender is on the streets.

I believe that sex offenders need to be dealt with cause it’s wrong.  I also believe that every sex offender that is in jail is not guilty proven by multiple times in the state of Mississippi.  The judge is so easy to sentence a man for being a sex offender.  Before jailing a person they need to check the case to the T before jailing.  also, they need to go back and check all of the sex offenders cases because most sex offenders plead guilty to keep from getting the maximum sentence.

i know of a situation right now where a person who is serving time for been a sex offender. the only reason he is in there because the girl mother was sleeping with him and the daughter like him too. so the daughter told her mother that he was sleeping with her too. so the mom got mad and press charges against him and come to find out one of her friends told her mom that her daughter was lying she said that to get back with her mom for sleeping with him so he is in jail for that. i said this to say that i think some people jump to conclusion to fast when it come to teenagers. if you know how your child is there is no need to hold that child up in there wrong. i see if the person is a little child but when they are 14-16 you should be able to tell if they are lying or not and if they is sneeking out all the time and doing god knows what then the parents should get the facts first before jumping to conclusion cause if they are sleeping with an older guy its not their firt time

i agree with Keiya. i know a guy who dated a younger girl parents knew but only turned him in because they broke up. i dont think that the sex offender registry serves any purpose i think it makes most of them strike again when people knoow that they are because they are treated as if they’ll never change even when they try their best to. i also think some people even deny them jobs because of it

They should be given the death penalty if they are guilty.
