Crime in Jackson (67)

What should Jackson’s elected officials be doing to lower crime?

Well with criminals in office right now I dont know what we should expect. There seems to be a complete lack of concern for the citizens of Hinds county even Mississippi. Mississippi is getting played right now like a game of spades by the elected officials. Everyone in Mississippi is going to be insane. The drugs and drug addicts who have to somehow support their habits are the main reasons for crime. Hope is dead in Mississippi so what do we expect our impressionable youth to do or want to do with their lives. It is easier to steal then work for five dollars an hour. Reserve the jails for the live threatening criminals instead of traffic violations. If you dont have the money what are you suppose to do steal it. No decent paying jobs, it is even hard to start your own business here. They did a good job taking the pirators who were selling the cds off the street but what are they doing now for money. The actions of melton created more criminals because we need ways for people to earn decent living before you can take a non-life threatening mean away. It is wrong to bootleg but it was not hurting anyone. Where are the free non profit organizations for our youth, who do you reach out to when you dont have food, your rent, gas, or cant find a job. People are being steered in bad directions because there is no outreach. The churches dont even help. Most of the churches with schools are more expensive then others. There is a church on every corner and they are the most profitable business. You are on your own. D if you do D is you dont.

People in Jackson are scared for nothing I’m not scared of nothing why would I be afraid to go anywhere in Jackson knowing this is my home town Fear is a vain emotion only fear one should have is the fear of God. Crime will eventually get better when the city of Jackson get’s better people believe by just throwing someone in jail the problem is solved wrong!!!!! That’s the birth of a greater problem. Help each other come together I see these traits in the North End. They stick together with one another. Peace is a goal that we should be following instead of just taking someones freedom away from them. Stricter rules in school would help, better after school programs would help. A better community comes from a better understanding of each other.

The crime in Jckson is absolutely ridiculous! It should not be this bad, but it is. I can’t go outside in my own yard without thinking I’m fixing to get shot or something. JPD needs to step it up and quit being so scared to do something about it!

The system is too soft on criminals.  If all persons committing crimes in Jackson were locked up for a couples of months without bail there would probably be very few crimes.  Most of Jackson’s crimes are committed by repeaters.Stop putting them back on our streets.  The news media makes the problem worst by constantly repeating the same crimes over and over. The court system is a joke in Mississippi.
