I say poll the people of, not just jackson, but the entire metro area in general, on the news about the idea of whites being able to come foward about discrimination and see what type of response you get. And if not then why not, what have you got to loose? What are you afraid of? The truth? If you all at the news station don’t poll the public on this issue then not only will everyone else who reads these comments know you don’t, but they will know that you know it’s all true. There is way too much racism in jackson. Mainly aimed against whites. I have been on the recieving end of much hatred and disrespect due to my skin color. My life was threatened because I am white and the police refused to do anything about it. If it had been me being a threat to someone of the opposite race because of their race then I would have been found and made an example of. Its not fair that one race can claim discrimination but not another. Discrimination is not limited to being african american, I have been on the recieving end many times but because im white it did not matter. I dont feel like I should be paying for what was done before I was born. Mississippi needs to be the first to set up discrimination laws that work for EVERYONE!!! Not just someone who uses it as an excuse to justify violence, like the six young men in Jena who ganged up on one guy. Anyone who thinks that they were justified for nearly killing another person, and should not have recieved any punishment at all should put their child in that situation. What if one black guy got jumped on and nearly beat to death by six white guys? They would be in prison for a hate crime. The hanging of a noose in a tree, or a racial slur should have been dealt with by the authorities, not six citizens taking the law into their own hands, for that is breaking the law. You cant just go out and punish someone personally, thats the laws job. Hate is not limted to color. Everybody needs to step up and examine the definition of EQUALITY! Because theres nothing equal about a white person being mistreated in any way because they are white, just like its not right for someone to be mistreated in any way for being black. I dont know how to solve crime in Jackson, but i do know how to solve indifference. Set up a way for whites as well as blacks to report and deal with descrimination istead of acting like its not happening, CAUSE IT IS! Im shoulndt have to live in fear because I an white, thats DESCRIMINATION!!!!! |

I think that the officials should team up with Frank Melton and put visible patrol cars in areas. This way before someone try to do something, they will think twice when they see a police car. More police officers should be hired to crack down because these surveillance cameras are not scaring these crooks! |

I believe that if the people that is bringing down the town of Jackson would get out and try to better themselves instead of trying to sell drugs, prostitute, robbing and all the other bad stuff in Jackson it might would be a better place and let the Mayor Melton do what has to be done as far as cleaning up the city. One other thing if people would get the Lord in their lives would be a lot better. |
