I still don’t understand why this is historic. For one, he’s half white and half black. Second even if he was black (which he isn’t), why does that matter? If he was any other color it wouldn’t matter. |

I honestly dont care what anyone or the media has to say… History has been made… Know matter what is said, how people feel, and what people may want or not want… on Jan 20, 2009 we oficially have an African American President, Barak Obama… This world is not color blind, know matter what is said he has and will always been remeber as the United States first black President…. |

I find it interesting that certain groups are telling two conflicting sides to this story. On the one hand, they are saying that race is irrelevent and has not played a significant part in this election. Now they are saying that this is a “historical” event because we have a black president. Common sense would say that these two views are mutually exclusive. Either they are racially motivated, thereby making a black president “historicaly” significant OR race does not matter and he is just another president like the previous fourty-three. Which is it? |

I don’t remember a time when we as Americans were told to not discuss such a historic election in our schools, (both private and public) because of hurting someone feelings. Whose feelings were hurt, exactly? I wonder…For once in our lives we (the black community) have something we can really be proud of and our children are told to “just be quiet” about such a historical event. |

I don’t remember a time when we as Americans ever said we have a white man in the White House. All I have heard is an African American is in the white house. We are not blind we know he is black. This is nothing more than reverse discrimination. I guess now we can put and end to affirmative action. How can we get past the race issues when that is all you hear. Finally we as White Americans can be subsidized for all the years we missed out on. We don’t have a united white college fund, we don’t have National Asso for the Advancement of White People and all the other groups that are media promoted. So lets get real and really stop with the racial discrimination. |

This has been a great Day Historically for our whole Nation. I’ve seen the young ladies speaking about what a role model Michele Obama will be for them but, I surely hope that our local government will except President Obama as their role model(Jackson City Council)and follow his lead by example. |
