the problem with this and jena 6 is that every old person in america wants to keep teaching racisim to the young. how are we to move forward and get along if this keeps up? its almost as if older black people want it to be reversed slavery and older white people cant see its their children this will happen to. i know the news media cant make it without this kind of controversy, but please think of our children who had nothing to do with this. and as far as the jena 6, well its the way our young are taught. and its the way its reacted to. it is very, very hard to control ones self when the past of a hundred years ago, of people you dont even know is rubbed into your face. when your are having to pay for their mistakes. but no one will ever tell the african americans that one of the their very own took them to america to be sold and lived rich of slavery. no that will not ever be taught to them. |

As a young African-American woman truthfull I am more disturbed by aman of color saying such harsh thing than I am any other race, because being an black man they should already know how we have struggled our way thru the years to be recognized respectfully and them saying things about us only says to other races that its ok for them to do so…. |

OK, We start talking about Imus and it has now gone onto making things up. ” Mental illness is an epidemic within our society” ? What does this have to do with Don Imus. Nothing! As far as doing away with racism, not gonna happen. To many people want for themselves. We have black history month. Mative american history month. We can’t decide to have a national language because someone, who isn’t even a citizen of the US might be offended. The only way racism goes away is for minorities to stop demanding special attention because they are minorities. Then we can start looking at the rest. |

In response to the viewer that stated the recent concerns and protests of Rev. Jackson and others appauled by the comments made by Don Imus, seemed “petty” in comparison to the VA shooting. I say “NO!” Rev. Jackson’s concerns and comments are not “petty”. All this ties into our society today. We have let racial slurs and stereotypical behavior go long enough. Those “good ole’ boy” have had their last day in the sun. Our teachers and others in authority, including our government officials are scared to speak up afriad of hurting someones “feelings”.Well, I say it is high time for all of us to be accountable for things we portray not only to the public as a whole, but also, within our own communities and homes. The “Old South” is dead and gone, change is here, it is 2007. Wake up people!! It is time, not to judge others by the color of their skin, creed, age or gender, but rather, by what they have to offer intelligently to make a positive impact on our society as a whole. Sure, some of the elderly southerners will have a hard time adjusting to the future, but it is high time we make a stand and do what is right for each other. It takes a community to raise a child. No more passing the buck! We need to be accountable, the sooner the better. I know I’m far from perfect and I’ve made lots of mistakes in my life, but I’m here now saying, forget the past, change tomorrow, do what is right. I will, with all my power make a more contious effort to make a stand and not let those racial slurs others use in my presence slid. Speak up and let others know, this is no longer acceptable behavior. Teach your children to see past all those stereotypical behaviors. It is our job to ensure the safety of our children for the future. If we don’t start caring for each other, these needless killing will only increase. Our society will be lost to hatred and needless suffering. Personally, I can’t stand to carry the weight of that guilt. We must do what is right regardless of the “old ways”. And, just in case your wondering, I am a 39 year old, white female and mother of 2 teenagers and a 4 year old. I would like to see my children live healthy, happy, productive lives. And, I feel every person should be allowed to live a wonderful life feeled with joy not hatred. You can make a difference! If we all stand together as a nation we can take our country back and keep our children from killing each other. Realize what is really important, mental illness is an epidemic within our society. We must forget skin color and this other nonsense, stop hating, and start caring for each other. |

I applaude the stations decision regarding withholding graphic pictures, etc…regarding this hanis crime. It restores my faith in the “media”, to show the news, as the news should be portrayed. News should be important information, not an extension of some crazed mentally ill individual who has no concept of wrong and right. And does not value the souls and human life of others. We should all be more aware of things that bring unnecessary and unexcusable pain to those who are already suffering tremendous amounts of grief due horrible tragedies such as these. |

You know, it’s a crying shame that this tragedy had to happen in Virginia to get the spotlight off of Imus. I’m sick of hearing about him. He messed up, he got fired and apologized…everyone should just let it go. |

as usual everything turns racial, what don imus said about the female players was not right but it wasn’t racial, but that’s what people listen to him for(the ugly stuff).there were white girls and black girls on that team, what makes everybody think he was talking to the blacks??the reason it turned racial is because JESSE JACKSON and AL SHARPTON turned it that way because without turning everything racial THEY would have to get out and get a real job and work for these big fancy cars they drive or expensive restraunts they eat at,if they were really concerned about the blacks they can start in jackson, there’s a lot of homeless and poor blacks he could skip a few fancy meals and eat cheap(mcdonalds)and feed some of them,or drive a cheap car(nissian)and let some of that money go to paying for them a trade.but anyway NO DON IMUS should not have been fired! |
