If the fire department’s can not safety check churches because of politic’s. Then why are the churches required to follow state building regulations. Those in power can NOT have it both ways. If building regulations have to be followed then the churches should be intitled to have safety check’s |

Absolutely. The separation of church and state is necessary. If you don’t think so, look at the middle east. The reason the middle east is such a hotbed of violence is because their “governments” are churches. Think about this, if we decided to allow the government to sanction religion, which religion would be sanctioned? I know most of you are saying Christianity, but stop and think. We are about religious freedom here. Now, with a government sanctioned religion, anyone who is not a “christian” will become angry. This leads to resentment which will always lead to violence. I am a Christian. I have given my life to Christ my savior. However, I do not believe our government should legislate morality. It is not the governments place to tell me or anyone else what is moral or not. That should be left to individual decision making based on what you learn. Now, I know some one out there is going to bring up murder, you always do. I am not alking about doing away with the criminal justice system. Murder is wrong because it is a crime against a person. Yes, it is imoral to me, but to others it may not be, but, it is illegal either way. There are many reasons for the separation of church and state and I believe our forfathers knew that the main reason was for the safety and well being of all of us. I would hate to see the USA become like the middle east. |
