Legislature’s Pay Raise (17)
Do you think the Legislature should have the authority to vote on a pay raise for itself?

The pay raise has absolutely nothing to do with attracting good candidates, but rather is aimed at providing these yahoos with a higher retirement pay. And that is another sad story as I had to work 25 years to draw full retirement whereas, unless I am mistaken, these part timers are vested in one 4 year term. |

I think it is rediculus that they can not fund education and yet they can find the money to give themselves a raise. There was one politician this morning that said he deserved a pay raise HA! I can understand that it has been a while since they have received a raise buth that doesnot mean they should go crazy with it. We need to do something with our education system and if they can work on getting that taken care of then I would support a raise. |

The pay raise amounts are a joke. A joke on the taxpayers of Mississippi. Pay raises are generally in the 3- 5 % raise. Way to go guys. If only we all could give ourselves a raise. |

No, they knew what the salary was when they ran for office and should not be allow to vote themself a raise. If they are unhappy with their salary, then get out and get a job…. |

Why so much? I believe everyone needs a cost of living raise/ increase. We are all feeling the crunch of the economy, but how many businesses in our State or the Country can give/approve a salary increase of $15,000 - $30,000 a year. Some businesses and community programs in our State are having to close their doors. How could you justify this to the citizens that are without a job or income? The taxpayers of this State did not see this type of increase in income and we know that we won’t see it in the revenue of the State. I don’t think we can afford this pay raise. I hope our representatives did not decide to “represent” us just for the money. |
