I am a 16 year old student at Jim Hill Highschool and I am very honored to be apart of this historic event. I have pasted the Ever’s home many times but I’ve never been inside. Just hearing some of the history here almost brings a tear to my eyes. We as an African American race have come very far. I do plan to be back at the Ever’s home tomorrow for the viewing of the Inauguration at 9am until 1pm. |

I am shocked by the responses that demonstrate ignorance of both whites and blacks to the importance of EVERY soul that steps up for the liberty for all people. I have known people from every walk of life, every color, and every religion that have displayed courage. Many of these you will never know their name. It is important to recognize the people such as Megar Evers but to also understand that there are others out there that allowed them to become prominent people in our history books. Please grow into the words of Martin Luther King and actually look at the character of a person not just their color. Jesus life was about serving others. It is hard to imagine Jesus not getting the importance of honoring all people who serve to make the world a more companionate and humane place to live. So honor Megar Evers, Martin Luther King, and say a prayer of gratitude for the many others (white and black) who gave up their jobs, family ties, church affiliations, and to live out the golden rule. |

He was a great man in history that stood up for what he believed and the rights of others. I am not of the black race but do give him the credit and the dignity he deserves. Why can’t we get along? What other people in history did, should not mark me as a human being today. I did not nor would not think about owning another human being as a slave, no matter what color they are. Our constitution says that all men are created equal. My Bible certainly has a lot to say about how we treat each other. God created all of us and who really knows what color God is? Lets live out our lives as we should, knowing that all life is special and should be treated with dignity. We all need to work together in these tough times to make our great country great again. |

means nothing at all to me. It happened. There are so many untold stories. Why do blacks not mind geting a drivers lincence with a picture on it but cry foul when they need to show a voter identification card. Blacks cant have it both ways. Many whites were killed by blacks and we don’t try to make a holiday for every one. |
