Should business owners or clerks be allowed to shoot thieves who steal from a store?

YES, YES, AND YES.  How would the thieves like it if we tried to steal something that they worked so hard for.  They would more than likely throw a bullet at us.  Ya think….

this day in age, if you choose to rob or steal from an occupied business or residence, you have to know you may die doing so. what exactly is so important to the perpetrators of these crimes?
back in the “ day “ it was drug addiction. the socio-economic status of the average thief seems to be much higher now than in the past.
has this become a sort of sport? come on, a clown costume? ther had to be some giggle factor in there for that kid.  sad

The theift/death that occurred Sunday night was another one of these out of hand situations. The robbing is out of hand and the killing is out of hand, now I do feel that this person was threatened because this guy displayed a gun, I just wish it would have had a different outcome because this guy was someone I knew. And yes he was wrong but I still don’t think he deserved to die. Robert you talk about what his family and the preacher said in his defense but understand his family probably were just honestly not aware of this other lifestyle. As far as I can remember he never displayed himself as someone who would do this.

I am very sorry for the families of bothe sides. We can not continue to let people take what is ours! It does not make a difference if it is $5 dollars or $5 million dollars it belong to me and I have the right to keep what is mine! That man did not try to kill him, but he did, that is secondary the point of this all he should not have robbed the store for anything that was not his. If more people do it maybe they will cut back on the robberies or find a job to buy what they want. It does not matter how less it is if it does not belong to you leave it alone and do not touch and nothing like this will happen! This theif has caused this man a lot of trouble and grief also his own family. He did it to his self!!!!!!

the clerk was right to stop a thief.  JAckson is suffering from too many that are too lazy to work other than deal drugs.
Stealing has become a way of life for many and the owner/homeowner should have the right to protect his property

THE NUTTS ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM IN JACKSON! I APPLAUDE THE STORE CLERK FOR SHOOTING THIS THUG! YOU WILL PAY ONE WAY OR THE OTHER,WITH MONEY OR YOUR LIFE YOU MAKE THE CHOICE!

Our home and almost every home in our neighborhood has been burglarized.  We are sick and tired of the crime around the Jackson area!  I cannot believe that a grand jury would even consider inditing the store clerk.  The thief lost his rights when he entered the store and stole from the man.  It is not about a pack of beer.  It is about a young man going into someone’s place and taking what was not his.  He asked for what he got the moment he stole from the clerk.  Also, the next time he might have had a gun and shot the clerk.  Thieves deserve what they get!! If they will steal from you, they will also shoot you.  Bottom line -The store clerk should not be convicted of a crime because the only crime committed was by the thief.
