I DO NOT THINK THIS MAN DID ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE EVERYONE WANTS TO BRING UP A RACIAL ISSUE I DONT THINK IT WAS A RACIAL ISSUE BECAUSE IF A BLACK MAN WOULD HAVE SHOT A BLACK RACIAL WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN MENTIONED AGAIN PANNU AND HIS FAMILY ARE REALLY GOOD PEOPLE IF IT WAS ME I WOULD HAVE DID THE SAME THING BECAUSE PANNU DID NOT KNOW IF THIS MAN WAS RUNNING TO HIS CAR TO GET A GUN OR NOT AFTER FIGHTING WITH HIM IN THE STORE MAY GOD BE PANNU AND HIS FAMILY. |

When you live in a city like Jackson where the criminals outnumber the police officers 100 to 1, then the people must take control of their own property. The store owner was tired of being taken advantage of and did what he knew would make it stop. I’m sorry this man lost his life but had he made better choices…where would he be? There are consequence for every choice we make. |

As far as people trying to make this a racial issue, I dont think that it should be that. But i dont think that the man should’ve been stealing. But as far as the clerk shooting into his vehicle when he attempted to leave the premises was all the way out of line.I think if the clerk shot the man cause he thought that his life was in danger or that he had a gun means he killed him for nothing because he didn’t have one.and u could tell that the clerk intended to kill him because he shot the man numerous times. That all in itself proves that the shooting wasn’t justifiable. The thing is all the people that made comments saying that he deserved what he got are just talking.I’m sure that everyone in this city and everywhere else has done something worse than steal a beer.If u should die for something that petty then all the things that these people have done should die for the things that they have done. |

The bible says you should not kill or steal and it also says that the sword you live by you will die by. While it is sad that ultimately this man lost his life over a case of beer he had no business in the store trying to steal it. The beer is not the issue the act is what the issue is who is to decide when it is or is not ok to use deadly force. I myself have been a victim of crime several times and if i would have caught the criminals in the act i would have done the same thing. I paid for my stuff not them and they don’t have the right to try and take it from me. Yes it was a case of beer but they paid for it what gives him the right to try and take it from them and it is ignorant to me for people to say that the clerk was wrong for what he did and not place emphasis on what the criminal did in this case and try and write it off as if it was so minor. I hope that if some of these so called activist ever find themselves in the same situation as the store clerk and someone tries to rob them of something that they worked for and paid for they will remember how they are acting now. |

I am really upset with the fact that JPS District can spend this much money for someone to consult and can’t give bus drivers a raise each year. We are hard workers too. For us to get out in the heat transporting our kids to and from school takes time and patients. |

I am astonished at the protesters @ the BP over the theif being shot. Should he have been shot? NO, but he shouldn’t have been stealing! Mayor Melton has TRIED to clean up Jackson but he was shut down, why? Bleeding hearts who think only of their babies who are the ones doing wrong. Wake up, how many of YOUR kids are in prison for stealing, dealing, etc? We should re-instate the draft, if the criminals want to shoot people (like drive bys) then send them to a place where they can do some good instead of injuring our community further. I am SICK of the violence! I am glad the store clerk stood up against the theif! Let the criminals know they cannot get away with doing what they wish! |

ms. johnson, i can understand where you’re coming from…to a certain extent. again, let me refer back to the chevron store being shot up with supposedly automatic weapons; after the robbers were outside the store. the clerk did exactly as he was instructed. |

It’s so funny how everybody on here agreeing with this shooting doesn’t even live in Jackson. One person wants to refer to the commandments about thou shall not steal, it also says thou shall not kill or did we forget that. No matter what this man did in his past his life was a life taken over a beer. I don’t understand why everyone is missing that. And how can you all be supportive of the store owners actions. In my eyes they both were wrong, but a life shouldn’t have been taken. We should stop being so laid back with the Indian community because it’s becoming a habit for them. They made the choice to establish businesses in said highly criminal areas so they should take the proper measures to secure their properties and lives, get security like it was once suggested or just pick up the phone and call the police. There wasn’t a gun held on the store owner, he didn’t feel threatened he just wanted to a little target practice. And we have people who agree with that. Violence to that degree should only be displayed when harm is in one’s way, not just because they want their belongings back |
