I don’t even shop in Jackson anymore. I go the other direction.I commend the man that had the guts to shoot the hoodlum that robbed
his store,Stealing is stealing whether its beer or money. The Ten Commandents say thou shalt not steal. Apparantly they don’t read their Bibles, Can anyone anwer my question why when these thugs are shoot robbing and stealing everyone runs in the streets screaming about “what a Good Boy” he was…..DuH!

Yes the store owner should have shot him.If they looked he probably had a record for burglaries around Jackson.People of Jackson are going to have to do something because the idiots on the city council do not seem to care and only 5 to 10% of the police are doing their jobs so people have to protect themselves.

I cannot believe the people protesting the shooting of the thief by the store clerk. It means that
they are saying it’s
o.k. to steal. there
is no telling how many future crimes
have been prevented.
If thiefs have no fear of retaliation,
they will never slow down.

I say give the store clerk a medal and a new box of bullets. heck I’ll be glad to buy the bullets for him, the city of Jackson can supply the medal.

if there was not this code of secrecy that most citizens of jackson have adopted, the store owner might have had faith that the offender would be identified and arrested.the indian community has the guts to operate a business in an unsafe area, to serve that portion of the population inhabiting this particular part of jackson, when no one else will. this is how they are repaid. the chevron on elton road getting shot up is still very vivid in their memory. i applaud him. his actions that night are what it’s going to take for these criminals to stop and think before they act….anyone like to ask what i would do given the same situation??

My family can not go to Jackson to shop because of the crime. Several people from this area hve been assaulted in Jackson.
If the crime in Jackson is not brought under control, a lot more people are going to die.
Yes, business owners need to defend themselves anyway they can.
Jackson has become a city ruled by jungle law.
I do not wish to see anyone killed but sometimes that is the only way to stop what is happening.
Every one on your city councel need to be fired and replaced with others who can get the job done.
Your mayor is the only one with a desire to do something and you waht to lock him up.

Certainly the store owner should have shot the thief that stole a case of beer.Check his rap sheet and find out how many other charges he has had against him. Also if you checked the records of the protesters you would probably find the majority of them also have criminal records.

Yes. The thief put himself into the situation. No crime, no shooting.
Based on C-L editorials and published reader comments regarding the level of crime in Jackson and the actions (or lack thereof)of the city council and the mayor, thievery and thuggery are acceptable ways to make a living in Jackson.
The charges against the store owner should be dropped.
