Just to make it plain and simple. I think the whole school system needs a makeover. They probaly need to get rid of the superintendent as well.

Now, what does that have to do with the Bond Issue? You would be suprise at all that is going on in the schools around the viewing area, and they still get funded. Some of the teacher are just getting a pay check, not teaching our students anything.

I went to JPS schools and they were getting bad then. Over the years they have gotten worse. It is true that lower standards and low pay does not get you the best teachers but teachers know up front what the pay scale is and they should be held accountable for their actions. Private lives should stay at home and not brought to school. as for me, my kids go to private school because the teachers in our neighborhood are not very good. the ones i have had the displeasure to meet or watch should not be teaching our children. also as long as a select few think it is ok for everybody but christians to practice their religion at school my children will not ever attend jps or any other public school. the school system here has a lot of issues, bad teachers, religious freedom, dress codes, etc. i’m glad there are good christian schools around so that my children learn what is really important and that is treating everyone fairly and trusting in God.

AMEN MS. AMY JOHNSON!!  I think the JPS School District should keep personnel issues private.  All of the other schools do.  Just take a look at the situation with the teacher in Rankin county.  All everyone knows is something happened.  Their school did not elaborate.  JPS keep personnel business at home!!

I have only one thing to say regarding JPS lowering their standards for hiring teachers.  Maybe the state should raise the standard for paying the teachers. Like the old saying goes; YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

Come on people; teachers are just human like any of us. They are not GODS!!  We all make mistakes in life.  Parents I know you don’t do EVERYTHING RIGHT in the presence of your children.  The teachers are not your children’s parents.  It all starts in the home.  My parents raised me right; they didn’t depend on the teachers to teach their children moral values. Before you get upset; I’m not saying that teachers should not be role models for our children.  All I’m saying is that the first role models start at home!!!
