Yes Frances, you are correct. He is president but that does not mean he deserved it. What he did was promise the people what they wanted to hear. Does that mean he can or even will follow through with any of it? I guess we will see. As for McCain. You can only speculate that nothing would have been said had he been elected. Personally I believer, given the extent to which people actually got involved in this election, that despite who won people would have something to say.

I am so tired of people saying OBAMA, is inexperienced, tell me who in the hell have experience being the president(no one).  You may as well get over it OBAMA is the president and there is nothing you can do about it, obviously he did something right because what he is the president. Now the schools and jobs having a problem with people saying OBAMA name it is something wrong with you all and that lets us futher no that you all are prejudice but if Mccain would have won none of this mess would be going on and this makes no sense people can’t discuss history, and what kind of example does that make for the kids coming up in the world today.

First and foremost your president is not black. He is mixed. In addition to this the color of an individuals skin does not make him any more or less qualified to run this country. If an individual honestly believed in Obama’s policies and voted for based on them, then wonderful. For those individuals, on both sides, who voted based on race then I personally find that to be pretty pathetic. While I was and still am a McCain supporter I understand that Obama must be given a chance and I am willing to do that. Just remember though. Making history is wonderful but only if it is for the right reasons. Hopefully Obama will prove that he is capable of running this country but I must admit, he will have to earn my respect be he black, white, green, or purple.

I think that it is really sad that the suppose to be profeesional leaders in the Pearl Public School District stooped so low as to get on the PA system and make the announcement the day after that election that if any of the students mentioned President elect Barack Obama’s name that they would be suspended from school for 3 days.  But 2 weeks prior to the election, they did a mock survey and McCain won.  It was okay to talk about it then.  That is so sad.  They are instilling hate into our children.  A whole lot of racism.  This is a learning facility.  How can you teach social studies if you can’t talk about the new president.  Then when you call the school to ask who said what, they act just like they don’t know what you talking about.  Wake up people and quit dividing us by race.  That is what you are teaching the children.

Sheila, sounds like you really got some issues!  Go to GOD.  Obama is the president elect.  Like it or leave it!

The election was about choosing the best leader which we did. This would have been historic either way, 1st African American president or 1st female VP. And in cse you don’t know it, by the year 2042 white americans will no longer be the majority.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot… Everyone claims Obama to be an “African-American” man, and yet in his first post-election press conference he refers to himself as a “mut?”  True, this may be one of those “throw-away” remarks, but if so, how will we be able to distinguish these from true remarks?  This is the type of position where people shouldn’t have to just, “know what ya mean.”  Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

Overall, the next 4 years should be an interesting and exciting time…  I hope all goes well for our new president-elect, and MORE importantly, for our country.

The first “African-American” has been elected President of the U.S.  (And yes I use quotes because this is the assumed ethnicity he has chosen, regardless of his genetic composition… but wasn’t this election supposed to be about choosing the best person for the job, and not about making history?)

“Yes We Can!”  I would like to have a clear understanding of this phrase, some please enlighten me.  This seems to have been a very widely used phrase amongst certain groups as a type of campaigning tool.  Just curious as to its reference.

All i know is that i heard so many people say that this election shouldn’t be about race…  are you freakin kidding me??  To say this election had nothing to do with race is absurd.  If it had nothing to do with race, then why is this being called a “moment in history?”

Obama claims that he will make things better for the “middle-class” family.  He might just do that.  After all, one of George W. Bush’s big campaign items was ending abortion…  how far did that get?  This just proves that winning elections is not about who has the IDEALS, but who has the best IDEAS.  Who can come up with the best way to get elected.

Now as far as kids not being able to talk about Obama…  they should be able to say almost whatever they way…  “Freedom of Speech.”

Really want to end racism?  Go search for Morgan Freeman’s theory on that… “Stop talking about it!”  now there’s a guy with a good head on his shoulders…

Will Obama be a good president?  Who knows!  He might be one of the greatest presidents we’ve ever seen, and he might not.  Either way, we should support him and respect his position.

These are just a few points for all of us to think about.
