As I read the comments I notice every one calls themselves Christian. The Bible tells us to pray for our leaders and do you not know whoever got in office “It has to be GOD’S will”.- Ms Shelia, I grew up in Philadelphia, MS and my father got severely beaten the night the Civil Right Boys were killed.  He had to lay on his stomach for days because he could not sit. We “both black and White” have respected the President office and call many men that we didn’t like or agree with the title “President” Obama is the new face of America.  If you can’t deal with it then maybe you need to leave.

This is the first time I’ve voted, I’m in my 30’s, and I’m white, I also follow my own personal set of beliefs rather than what someone else has tried to force and ingrain into my life. This nation’s laws protect every citizen from discrimination including religion and race, it protects the rights of its people to think for themselves, and to voice their opinions. The people of this nation exercised the right to have their voice heard in last night’s election and if you don’t like it, that’s just too bad. You have the right to complain all you want but it will not change the fact that Mr. Obama will be leading our country. I think the fact that Barack Obama will be the first black president IS important but also at the same time irrelevant. I believe he has the foresight and the ability to help get this country out of the mess we have made of it. And by we, I mean every citizen from the president, members of congress, and other government officials, to the banking institutions and other business sectors, to the average and not so average US citizen. We need to start taking responsibility for our own actions and life choices. Your everyday choices in life have a chain reaction that will affect the future of this country and everyone that lives here.
Obama promised us change.
And indeed, it IS time for a change.

America wanted to see a change for the good. People are tired of the ole south rules. Shelia from Philadelhpia it’s people like you who’s stuck back in the ole south. Who cares that you don’t want to call him your president. Look at what BUSH has done to this country. I would not call that a president I’ll call that a total mess-up. Thank You Ms.Ole South.

God Help Us!!  America has no idea what they have done.  This was not a black white issue.  America has turned it’s back on God and it seems that they will continue to do this, we will have to pay the cost of our immoral attitude and this “change” is only the beginning. When you have all of America’s enemies cheering on a candidate you should really look at motives.  Heard of Destroy from within???  We must all hit our knees at night and pray for God’s mercy for those that still believe he has a place in our society.

This was my first time voting and I am 21 years old.  It felt good to vote because I was a part of history.  People are always going to talk negative about each other…black or white, democrat or republican.  It is time for democrats and republicans, black and whites…all races to work together and secure the future of our nation and world.

those of us, who have put aside hatred and prejudice, have weighed both sides and have chosen the AMERICAN candidate for the job. We need to grow up and put aside petty hatred and start chosing the best man or woman for the job.

It is people like Sheila from Philadelphia that will never allow the south to break out of the racist sterotype that plagues us. The United States needs Barack Obama to unite us. Sheila, if President-Elect Obama will not be your President, then please allow me to pack up your hime to help you move out of the country. He won. God willed it to be. Our nation was founded on the equality fo all, religious freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Life. Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Sheila- do you have control over what your parents named you? His name has nothing to do with it. Now, Sheila, and all other who read this -Imagine: What if it were the first White president elected last night? Think of the uphill battle he (or she) would fight. AMERICA elected him. It is your DUTY as a citizen to respect the OFFICE he will hold, even if you don’t respect him. We should not look at ourselves as the color of our skin, (they are black, we are white)But we are Americans, we are humans. We must look at what UNITES us, not divides us. I was proud of President-Elect Obama last night and I can accept and embrace he has a different skin color than I do, and I encourage ALL Americans to the same. He is MY president. He is America’s next President!

God help us all, but especially our men and women in the service, who will have no respect from their “Commander and Chief” as they fight day and night for our freedoms!!!

I never thought I would Like to see such an event either. I don’t see how America stooped so low as to elect a muslim to run this country. If he wanted to run a country why didn’t he go over to Iran. His middle name even states what he really is. He’s a nothing and I will never consider him my president.
