Everyone wants to place blame. This is a horrific tragedy. But when there is a shooting in Jackson do we shut down or evacuate the city?  Hindsite is 20/20.

OK, can we stop trying to make VT look like idiots. Yes, we know the school was not locked down after the first shooting. Hind sight being 20/20 we now know it should have been, however, at the time, no one, not even the press that is harping on this now, could have predicted what was to happen 2 hours later.

Can we for once just have some good hard reporting of facts? I am so tired of turning on WJTV and hearing about how the school was wrong for this and that. I am also tired of hearing about unrelated stories from 37 years ago. Yes, the two boys were shot on campus in 1960. I feel sorry for them and their families. Hoever, it has no bearing on the events in Virginia. I see this as another reason for the black comunity to have an uprising about a past (in their eyes) injustice. Just report the news and stop sensationalizing.

To the students, staff and all family:
Our thoughts and Prayers are with you. I Pray that you find comfort through it all. I Pray that God will open the door and let be known why this has all come about. We share your grief, loss, and your sorrows. May all your question soon be answered so that maybe you can find peace and comfort in each one of your hearts. It is harder to understand tragedy when your on the outside looking in.We hope that your smiles and your laughter will once again fill the campus to what will be known as an existing campus at Virginia Tech.

As a college student I think I need be more aware of my surroundings. People are angry everyday and sometimes all they need is a ear to listen to them, my heart, prayers, and love goes out to the families.

I would like to commend Vt for their recent ruling that prohibits students from excersizing their constitutional right to bear arms for self-defense. I see how well their no gun on campus rule worked out for them. Had one student had a weapon maybe they could have ended this before 30 people had to be slaughtered like sheep.  Thanx VT and thanx to the politicians that will use this to further their agenda to make us all defenseless.

That being said, I have to say that the press has again shown that they are both insensitive and incapable of listening to what is said. At the press conference yesterday afternoon, reporters seemed more interested in attacking the school and police than they were in getting the information that matters. I was disappointed by the lack of restraint on behalf of the reporters. I was impressed by the strength shown by the VT Chief of Police. I that had been me, I would have walked out after the attacks started. The media needs to change. The public doesn’t want to see you attacking, we want to see you getting the important info.

Again, god bless the families of all those killed in Virgina Monday.

The school officials are to be blamed for this incident. After the first shooting, the school should have been closed, or at least locked down until the shooter was found. Lives could have been saved.

after listening to the tragic news about va tech,  i am amazed how quick the media is to blame the campus officials for not responding quick enough.  i think the school officials did the very best they could at the time.  the gunman apparently knew where to go and was able to hide.  he must have had a plan and no one could have probably known he would strike a second time.  we want to hear the news, but don’t make it a media circus.
