I think this is one bad decision among many made by melton,he will bring nothing but division because mcmillin is a politician and it will soon show in anegative way, wake up jackson we dont need this man.
I’m so happy that Sheriff Mac is now the chief of police also. There really is a glimmer of hope for the crime situation in Jackson......if council members will let he & Melton do their jobs. Desperate times call for desperate measures !
I was born and raised in Jackson and have known Malcolm for 30 years. Malcolm is an awesome sheriff, police chief and mentor.
I grow up in Jackson, and I saw this coming neighborhood by neighbor. Police corruption was at a high, crooked government offical, low voter polls, crooked public offical, and this lead to the Destruction of Jackson. There is alot of history Jackson and the story WILL NOT BE told, because of the crime issue. To the person that was uspet about overtime you and your fellow officer have to get together and fight. Trust me I understand where you are coming from, but you must have a united front, a cause and a purpose. Any law enforcement field is a very dangerous one and you should be paid for the job that you do. Let’s face it the people to day will shoot first and ask question last. I stress fight for the pay and the retirement. Frank Melton’s choice is a good one, but Jackson sits in the Hinds County. The Sheriff has a county that he is responsible for. Yes Atlanta has one Chief of police, but Fulton County has a Sheriff also. If this is a tempory selection, it’s fine, but the search for a newly qualified police Chief is needed.
I wonder what took so long? Jackson is my home and one I love so very much. My heart has been broken at seeing what has been happening here and it seemed no one was able to do anything about or did not want to for some reason. Personally, I feel relieved already. Jackson just needs organization and enforcement. This is an answer to prayer!
JCKSON HAS ITS BIG WHITE HOPE NOW THE CITY IS SAFE...WELL HERE ARE A FEW FACT. YOUR LAW MAN CUT OVER TIME IN THE POLICE DEPT, FOR EXAMPLE PCT 2 HAS 13 BEATS. IT WILL BE DOWN NO LESS THEN 2 BEATS CAUSE OF NO OT. SO WHEN YOU SLEEP HOPE YOU HAVE A OFFICER IN YOUR AREA. POLICE AFE LEAVING EVEN FASTER NOW, 15 RESIGNED LAST WEEK. HOW CAN THEY GET OFFICERS AND THEY DONT PAY ENOUGH, AND OFFER NO FUTURE. POLICE MORAL IS IN THE NEGATIVE NOT JUST LOW BUT OFF THE CHART. ASK YOUR SELF NEXT TIME YOU CALL OR SEE THE POLICE “DO THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT MY SAFTY OR ARE THEY JUST TRYING TO GET A CHECK”? YOU ALREADY KNOE THE ANSWER. MCMILLIN CANT DO NOTHING CAUSE HE CANT DO FOR THE COUNTY BOYZ. ASK YOURSELF HAS HE GOT THEM A RAISE AND BETER BENIFITS? NO! ARE THERE CARS ANY BETTER? NO! 75% OF THEM ARE RESERVE SHERIFF (NO PAY). DO YOU THINK JACKSON NEED A PART TIME CHIEF. MCMILLIN ON CARES ABOUT THE SHERIFF NOT JACKSON PEOPLE. THE CITY WILL BE NO MORE SAFE THEN BEFORE. BLACK PEOPLE THAT SUPPORT THIS WILL SEE WHEN YOU AE A VICTIM OF HIS LOCK THEM UP TO CLEAN UP JACKSON SO GET YOUR BOND MONY TOGETHER. THIS WHOLE CITY IS A JOKE. “THE SILLY OF JACKSON” TO HELL WITH MCMILLIN!
im glad to see that the mayor has selected sheriff mcmillin to be police chief in jackson. jackson is to beautiful to let crime take over the way it has.the whole state needs people like the mayor and the police chief running things.
I think Mayor Melton’s choice will prove that AGE is a plus when dealing with people. Sheriff McMillin is an educated and experienced professional. I am looking forward to visiting Jackson and feeling safe. For the people against him because of age, just remember, you may get their one day and then you will not like age descrimination attitudes. Right K. Stokes!
DID YOU KNOW WHEN YOU GOOGLE THE WORST MAYOR IN AMERICA FRANK MELTON HAS THE WHOLE WEB PAGE. NOW THAT TELL IT ALL.
I am not understanding why we are not seeking a candidate for the the police position. Why has this become such a big deal..Let McMillan be Chief of Police but find a qualified person to take over as County Sheriff.
Sheriff McMillin will bring vast experience and will improve the moral & performance of the Jackson Police Dept. He will also be fair to all people. Also,it is very sad is that the City of Jackson would allow Mr. Stokes to so “clearly” demonstrate his racist attitude, personal anger & unnecessary use of profanity. I would ask Mayor Melton: Sir, Is this th profile of the the new Jackson?” Stokes should be fired.
CONFIRMING MCMILLIN AS CHIEF IS THE BEST THING JACKSON HAS DONE IN A LONG TIME. I STILL DONT UNDERSTAND STOKES AND MCLEMORE ARGUMENT ABOUT MCMILLIN NOT BEING ABLE TO RUN HINDS COUNTY SHERIFF AND THE CITY OF JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENTS. JACKSON AND THE HINDS COUNTY AREA HAS A MUCH SMALLER POPULATION THAN ATLANTA OR MEMPHIS, AND THOSE CITIES ARE RAN BY ONE CHIEF. MAYBE THE COUNCIL SHOULD VOTE TO GET RID OF STOKES AND MCLEMORE SO THE CITY CAN CONTINUE MOVING FOWARD.
I truly think that is the sadest move a mayor could make.I also feel this was the offical plan during the sheriff election we just had.If the Sheriff wanted to be Chief of Police why did he run againt Mr.Lewis. I feel the mayor and sheriff are playing games for power in Jackson,MS.
What a fantastic idea. I admire what Sheriff McMillan stands for. He will do wonders for the city of Jackson
Mr. Stokes attitude just shows, that he needs to resign and re-examine his priorities
